Coochiology 101: I is for...
Intuition. (Phonetic: in-TOO-ih-shun). The Original Inner Voice
Welcome (back) to Coochiology 101, where we decode the sacred alphabet of your body. If you’ve been journeying with us from Agency to Hormones, you already know—this series isn’t about textbook anatomy. It’s about remembering what was always yours.
And today, we arrive at I is for Intuition.
This one’s not tucked inside your anatomy diagrams. But you feel it. That tug in your gut. That tingle down your spine. That wordless knowing.
You’re not imagining it. You’re remembering it.

What It Is, What It Does + Why It Matters
Intuition is your body’s first language—an ancient, pre-verbal guidance system that works faster than thought and deeper than logic.
It’s the flutter in your stomach before a decision. The tightening in your chest when something feels off. The warm flood when you know you’re safe. This isn’t magic—it’s your spiritual+soul+nervous systems decoding reality in real time.
And that tripartite (3-part) system? It runs deep through your belly, pelvis, and womb-space.
The gut and pelvic regions are dense with neurons. What science now calls the enteric nervous system or “second brain” is what ancestral traditions have honored for millennia. The knowing that lives there is real. It’s intelligence immemorial.
And when you start to listen to it? Game. Changer.
Cultural / Ancestral Insight (+ Intelligence)
In Yoruba cosmology, Ori is the divine consciousness—not just in the head, but in the belly. It guides you toward your destiny. In Black and Indigenous traditions, intuitive gifts weren’t mystical—they were life-saving. Midwives, root workers, healers, and everyday women relied on dreams, omens, sensations, and quiet knowings to survive systems designed to silence them.
In some traditions, Mother Essence—a spiritual signature passed down through the maternal line—was the seat of both protection and guidance. It was said that a mother’s spirit, or essence, could whisper to her descendants across generations through the gut, the dreams, or the skin.
Biblically, the concept of spiritual discernment is echoed in scriptures like Isaiah 30:21: “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’” That’s intuition. That’s Ori. That’s spiritual + ancestral memory.
Intuition is inherited wisdom in action.
For Non-Coochie Owners
If a woman says, “I don’t feel right about this,” baby, that is the reason. You don’t need a spreadsheet. You don’t need proof. The highest form of support you can offer is to respect that felt sense.
If you’re in community or relationship with someone, learn to hold space for their inner knowing, even when it doesn’t make sense to you. Especially then.
And just so we’re clear: you have intuition, too. And the more you honor hers, the more you’ll learn to trust your own. Nuff said.
Modern Reclamation
Colonial systems tried to discredit intuition because it couldn’t be measured, monetized, or manipulated.
But reclaiming your intuition is a radical act. It says: I don’t need permission to know what I know.
Whether you’re sensing danger or delight, your inner knowing is not a glitch. It’s a gift.
Coochie Call-to-Action
Today, instead of rushing to analyze… pause. Close your eyes. Ask your body:
“What do I already know?”
And then listen like she’s the expert—because she is.
